Peripapillary Vascular Changes in Nonarteritic Anterior Ischemic Optic Neuropathy by Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography: A Case Report
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background: To report the sequential peripapillary vascular changes in nonarteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION) with optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) Methods: A 60-year-old male presented with right eye painless vision loss leading to inferior field defects and right eye 0.5 vision. The sequential OCTA was performed at presentation and 5 months later to evaluate the peripapillary vascular changes. Results: At presentation, the OCTA revealed decreased peripapillary capillary perfusion in the area corresponding to the nerve fiber swelling, along with increased blood flow of the major retinal vessel. Five months later, the OCTA showed decreased blood flow in the major retinal vessel. The attenuation of peripapillary capillary plexus became more prominent. Conclusion: OCTA can be a useful tool to demonstrate the detailed peripapillary vascular changes in NAION at the early stage of the disease.

Aims. To compare optical coherence tomography angiography (OCT-A) retinal vasculature measurements between normal and optic atrophy after nonarteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION) subjects. Design. This prospective observational study was conducted between July 2015 and August 2016 at the ophthalmology outpatient department of a referral center in Taiwan. Peripapillary (4.5 × 4.5 ...
متن کاملLong-term retinal nerve fiber layer changes following nonarteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy
BACKGROUND In cases of nonarteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION), retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness changes have been described during the first 12 months following the acute event. The purpose of this study was to report on the long-term RNFL changes in these eyes beyond the first year following onset of NAION. METHODS Fourteen eyes of 13 patients with NAION were analy...

OBJECTIVE To demonstrate the development of subfoveal fluid associated with optic disc swelling from nonarteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy. METHODS Optical coherence tomographic studies obtained during a 3-year period (October 1, 2003, to December 30, 2006) from 76 patients who developed ischemic optic neuropathy from 2 institutions were evaluated. The presence or absence, and the d...
